The Centre of African Studies at Edinburgh University is hosting the 8th European Conference on African Studies, Europe’s largest international conference focusing on Africa. It will take place from 11 to 14 June 2019 on the university’s central campus. Around 1,500 leading researchers, policy-makers and leaders from around the world will take part in the event.
Our publishing house will be represented at the event from 12 to 14 June by our distribution partner Global Books with a book table.

From August 21 to 25, 2019, the 26th Beijing International Book Fair will be held in Beijing, China. As one of Asia’s most important book fairs, the event attracted over 300,000 visitors and more than 2,500 exhibitors from 93 countries last year. Via our partner Inspirees, we will again be present in 2019 with a book selection at the Beijing Book Fair.

This year’s conference of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) will take place from 4-7 September at the University of Wroclaw. The event is the largest annual political science conference with more than 2,000 participants* from all over the world and around 500 panels, providing a forum for lively professional exchange.

This course aims to enable participants to successfully publish their English language articles in academic journals. It will create an understanding of the publication process of peer reviewed journals. We will develop individual strategies for the writing and publishing of research articles in the English language. Key topics include:
- Planning publications strategically.
- Criteria for journal selection (impact factors, rejection rates, publication schedules, Open Access, …).
- How to choose a great title and write the perfect abstract.
- The peer review system: stakeholders, processes, benefits, criticism.
- and much more
Participants are expected to actively partake in writing exercises and group discussions between presentations sequences. Power Point slides of the presentation will be made available after the workshop.

The Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt Book Fair) is one of the most important fairs for printed and digital content and an important social and cultural event. In 2019, the fair will take place from 16 to 20 October.
