On 29 March 2019, the advisory board meeting for the 10th anniversary of GENDER – Journal for Gender, Culture and Society took place in the “Alte Lohnhalle” in Essen. Our publishing team was also invited and was on site with a book table.
After a welcoming address by Prof. Dr. Katja Sabisch, spokesperson of the Network Women and Gender Research NRW, and the publisher of the magazine Barbara Budrich, Prof. Dr. Sigrid Metz-Göckel, co-founder and publisher of the magazine GENDER, gave a keynote speech on the development and current status of the magazine.
Subsequently, the participants met in two workshop groups to collect perspectives on the development of the journal. The results were then presented at a plenary session and the participants discussed future cooperation.
Afterwards, Dr. Uta C. Schmidt offered an informative tour of the Bonifacius colliery on the subject of “The Steiger’s wife doesn’t work”. Gender, work and life in the mining industrial Ruhr area.
After animated conversations at the closing dinner, the publishing team started their journey home. We would like to thank the editors for the organization and the opportunity to participate in the event!
