This year again, the Friedenspreis des Deutschen Buchhandels (“Peace Prize of the German Book Trade”), endowed with 25,000 EUR, will be awarded. The public call for entries has begun – as of now and until 1 March 2020, anyone can nominate a candidate.
If you know someone who, in your opinion, deserves the Peace Prize, you can submit your reasoned proposal online on the Peace Prize website, by e-mail or by post.
The Friedenspreis des Deutschen Buchhandels has been awarded since 1950 and honours every year a “personality who has made an outstanding contribution to the realisation of the idea of peace primarily through his or her activities in the fields of literature, science or art”. The Foundation Board of the Peace Prize will select the prizewinner in spring 2020 and announce its decision in June 2020. The prize will then be awarded during the Frankfurt Book Fair on 18 October 2020 in Frankfurt’s Paulskirche.
